Frequently Asked Questions:

HOW LONG IS THE TYPICAL TREATMENT PERIOD WITH INVISIBLE BRACES?

According to WebMD, Treatment time with invisible teeth aligners is based on how much the teeth need to be moved or rotated. The more your bite is off or the more crooked your teeth, the longer it will take. Treatment usually takes between 10 and 24 months. But if you're an adult who had braces as a child, and your teeth shifted slightly over the years, you may need invisible teeth aligners for as little as 10 weeks.

WHAT ARE THE AFTERCARE COSTS?

As with any orthodontics, you can expect to use a retainer to keep your teeth in their new position after Invisalign works to move them. Retainers can be either removable or cemented to your teeth. According to HealthLine.com, they can cost $100–$500 per retainer. Usually you have to wear a retainer every day for a while and before you’re allowed to only wear them at night.

Adults who get braces and wear their retainer properly shouldn’t need to repeat braces again. Your mouth is done growing and your body won’t be changing as much as a child or teenager’s body.

CAN I WEAR INVISIBLE BRACES WHILE I EAT?

Invisible braces aren't meant to be worn while eating or drinking anything but water. Whenever you eat a meal, snack, or beverage other than water, remove your aligners -- but not for long. Invisible braces must be worn for 22 hours each day to work properly according to the Chicago Tribune.

DO I HAVE TO SEE AN ORTHODONTIST WHEN I GET INVISIBLE BRACES?

In a world where you can get birth control online, take a hormone panel through the mail and even get a medical diagnosis through your phone, it should come as no surprise that several mail-order invisible braces companies now exist. Here are three places to get clear aligners without visiting an orthodontist.
